New Year, New Hobby

I’m not really sure why it is I’m writing this. But what I’m hoping is that it helps me express something. What I want to express, or even write about, is still a mystery to me, but I’m really hoping that something interesting will come along and I’ll have something to write about. That’s what I’m hoping happens anyway. What will actually happen is I’ll write this entry today, for an hour, or ten minutes, or until the end of this paragraph. Then decide that I’m bored and go make a coffee, put Netflix on, and forget the notion that I ever intended to write a blog entirely. For some reason as I’m writing this, the little voice in my mind telling my fingers what to write sounds remarkably like Hugh Grant. Odd. Anyway, even if I do make a half decent effort of this blog, not that I know what a half decent effort of a blog is, no one will read the fucker anyway. As its far too embarrassing as a man in his twenties, who hangs around with sports people and grafting people, to do anything that isn’t deemed either funny or disgusting (or both). But none the less; I’ve started now so i might as well give this one a go.

Why Am I Doing This?

Where did the idea that I even could write a blog come from? Well it’s something that’s played on my mind for the last couple of months or so. But when I saw a friend post on Instagram that she’d recently written and published one. I clicked it, read it, and thought; fuck it, how hard can it be?
Well apparently it’s very hard. I’m a paragraph and a bit into it and I don’t have a clue where to go from here. I’m boring myself with the idea’s that I’m coming up with on how to continue. So I’ve decided- I’ll just make it about me, like always.

New Year, New me?

I thought a good place to start with this blog would be the aims and plans I’ve got for the next year, thers no better way to start a new year than with some resolutions. So here are my 5!

1. Lose some motherfucking weight!

In fairness, this one has been my new years resolution for the past 2 years, but last year (not until September) it finally happened! I lost a stone between September and November and i feel so much better about myself! I literally feel a million times better about myself and if I can lose another stone I’ll be so close to my target weight! I’m aiming for another stone by the end of March, then hopefully the rest of my weight by the time I go on Holiday in May.

2. Get a 2:1!

I know this one is pretty self explanatory, but if I got a 2:1 in my degree I’d be so proud of myself! I was never going to go to uni, I only went because I had to opportunity too from rugby so I took it. I never even thought I’d get to third year, so if I got a 2:1 I’ll have done far better than I’d have ever imagined! just need to nail this dissertation now!

3. Move to America
I know this one sounds far fetched, and its not really a resolution, more of an aim for the year! But for the last couple of years, I’ve really wanted to go and live and play rugby in America. I’m trying to sort it out now, but its proving more diffcult than i thought it would be getting a visa! This is my own fault due to something stupid on my record from when I was 19, but I really hope it gets resolved in the next few months and it doesnt hold me back from achieving what I want to! I love America. I went to Las Vegas and then to LA in the summer and instantly fell in love with the place. Its just everything I thought it would be, just like in the films. Bigger, brighter, more life, just amazing!

4. Stay in more

This is one thats started really well! Its now the 11th of January and I’ve not had a single drink yet, so so far so good! I’m not by any stretch of the imagine going t-total or anything that mad. I was just boozing my life away, out 3-4 nights a week, getting into all sorts of bother and mischief! No good for anyone, especially when you’re as pathetic with a hangover as I am!

5. Spend more time with my great aunt

This one means more to me than any of the others put together. I have a great Aunty called Marjorie, she’s 85, and (I don’t think she’ll mind me saying this) she’s lost her marbles. This one means more to me than any of the other put together because it’s the only one with a time limit on. Realistically speaking, we might have just celebrated our last Christmas and New Year with her, which is a sad thought to think. So my main goal is to spend as much time possible with her, I’ve started ringing her everyday just to say hello. I think she appreciates it, even just a quick hello if I’m busy. But ideally I’d like to start seeing her 5 times a week, she only lives 100 yards from me so this isnt unrealistic. I take her for coffee once a week and I’m going to start leaving my phone at home when i do!

So, thats my five resolutions down on paper! Might make it abit easier to stick to them, might not, who knows! Thank you for reading my first blog post, I might do another one, might not, will see how this one is recieved (if anyone at all reads it!). Keep being you!
